Al Hayward
Chief Executive Officer
LaBranche & Co.

Al HaywardWhen cancer strikes, it is not only the patient who is somewhat shocked and devastated.  Family, friends and co-workers share in the fear and anxiety as well.

If you are fortunate, as I was, to have a relationship with a Hacker, your experience going forward will certainly be less stressful.

My new Hacker family was there for me from the day of diagnosis.  They all seemed connected to a highly regarded surgeon who was willing to see me almost immediately.

Your first "Hacker" event is special as well.  You are greeted with unconditional acceptance and your place in the family is a given.  Some of the hugs may strain your rib cage a bit, but there is nothing like it.

It gives me great pleasure now to be an active member of this special family and give back in whatever way I can what was given to me when my family and I so desperately needed it.

Craig Jeffers

Craig Jeffers
Energy Trader
Noble Americas

Craig is an energy trader at Noble Americas in Stamford, CT.  He lives with his wife and four children in Darien, CT.  His oldest child is 4-1/2 so he appreciates any opportunity to play a round of golf, much less as much golf as possible over the course of a day for a good cause.

Craig learned of Hackers for Hope through his neighbor and friend Tim Brown and fellow Hacker and friend Foster Smith.  His firsthand cancer experience occurred when his mom was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2003 and ultimately beat it in 2006. Stephen-Kay

Stephen Kay

Golf may be Steve Kay’s favorite pastime, but his first love is baseball. In his youth, Steve was a scoreboard operator at the old Veterans Stadium. When the ’94 baseball strike interrupted his ambitions to ascend the Phillies’ organization, he turned to business school and then to Wall Street, where he is today. Steve is a managing director for broker-dealer sales and relationship management for Knight, with a team responsible for more than 600 clients with equities and options market-making needs. He’s also serving his second non-consecutive term as President of the Security Traders Association of New York.

2011 marks Steve’s first year playing in the Hackers for Hope tournament, as ten-year veteran and Knight CEO Tom Joyce is passing the torch. Steve’s honored to take Tom’s place and raise research money to fight cancer. Steve’s mother-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago, and while she is in remission, she is but one of many family members and friends impacted by the disease. With deep appreciation for life and family, Steve relishes time spent with his wife, Jennifer, and his two boys, Jonathan and Andrew.

Eric Kirby
Kingdon Capital

As a two-time cancer survivor, I understand the range of physical and emotional strains that dealing with cancer entails. There have been so many factors that have contributed to me beating the disease, including family, friends and faith. However, as important as those contributions are, only TREATMENT will make someone cancer-free. Hackers For Hope helps make that treatment possible.

I am so excited for my 6th Hackers Golf Event. The previous five have been filled with great times with great people. Playing golf all day sounds like a lot of fun, but if you've ever tried to play as many holes as you can, you know it gets pretty grueling. But with every hole comes more money raised for cancer research. So, as always, I won't stop until the sun goes down!

Tobin Mulshine

Credit Suisse

Tobin W. Mulshine, a Director at Credit Suisse, lives in Riverside, Ct. with his wife Leigh, and their daughters Brooke and Chloe.

Tobin is proud to join both Al and the team of Hackers on their continued quest to find a cure for cancer. In addition to a few friends and their loved ones, Tobin's father was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in January 2007. After a long and hard fought battle, his father passed in November of 2007.

Understanding there is no rhyme or reason to when/how cancer decides to strike, and no bias between male or female, one clear truth remains - the cure percentage for cancer is way too low. Tobin understands that feeling of losing a loved one, and recognizes it could be anyone on any given day that is diagnosed.

Sean T. Riley

Sean T. Riley is Head of Execution Trading for Shumway Capital Partners, resides in Convent Station, NJ with wife Shannon and children Anna and John.  When Eric Kirby and Al Smith asked me to assist in the Hacker’s efforts 4 years ago I was thrilled.  I, like everyone else it seems, have lost friends and family to Cancer.  Cancer knows no limitations, has no bounds and only further research can hope to find a cure.  Cancer Research cannot progress without proper funding.  It is the Hacker’s mission to raise what funds we can so that the race for the cure can continue as swiftly as possible.  I am proud to be a Hacker and want to thank everyone in advance for all of your support.
